DESCRIPTION

The American Diabetes Association has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our fundraising team and become a full-time Associate Manager in Dallas, TX. The Associate Manager is responsible for executing and managing special events and meeting predetermined recruitment and fundraising goals within assigned region. You will work with current volunteer committees and staff to implement established special event action plans for one or more signature events, such as: Step Out to Fight Diabetes, Tour de Cure, School Walks for Diabetes, and Black Tie Galas.

The Associate Manager will ensure the successful recruitment of participants and volunteers, cultivation of volunteers, logistics for the event, and securing sponsorships for the events. In this capacity, the candidate must be able to work within a team and with key leaders to plan committee meetings, secure sponsorship and marketing for the events, team recruitment and other fundraising initiatives.


Current duties (which are subject to change as need arises):

* The appropriate candidate will be a self-motivated, high-energy, results-oriented person with up to two years of experience, preferably working on non-profit fundraisiong events.

* Strong public speaking presentation skills, oral and written, as well as the ability to manage multiple activities are required.

* Willing and extremely comfortable to conduct school based presentations and implement the  School Walk for Diabetes program.
* Individual will also support other fundraisers as needed.

* Cold calling, sales and customer relationship building experience are highly desirable.

* Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings, and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes.

* Candidate must be a team player dedicated to the achievement of personal and team goals.

* Experience with special events and/or the school environment is a plus



REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
* Minimum two years experience with similar voluntary health agencies, or in progressively responsible positions of administration and fundraising.
*Previous experience developing relationships that result in large dollar donations from individuals and corporations and success in achieving annual goals.
*Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
*Excellent interpersonal, communication skills and computer proficiency are essential.
*Must have excellent facilitation and/or presentation skills.
* Experience in working with diverse volunteer groups from many employment and socio economic backgrounds.
*Must have access to an automobile as local travel is required.
*Ability to attend some weekday evening meetings and perform some occasional weekend work.
*Applicant should enjoy working in the field and with face to face interactions.
*Ability to lift 25 lbs
